Divya Kala Mela 2025 showcases inclusive growth and Divyang empowerment

New Delhi: Emphasising that true national progress is impossible without inclusive growth, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said that Divyang persons are integral companions in society, not a separate group. She was addressing the Delhi edition of Divya Kala Mela 2025 at Kartavya Path.
Inclusive vision for national progress
The Chief Minister said that initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership—such as the Accessible India Campaign, skill development programmes, scholarships, employment fairs and platforms like Divya Kala Mela—are ensuring dignity, opportunity and equal participation for Divyangjan. She stressed that collective thinking and shared responsibility are essential for real transformation.
Empowerment as measure of a strong nation
Inaugurating the event, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar said a nation’s strength lies in empowering every citizen with dignity and equality. He noted that since 2014, over 32 lakh Divyangjan have received assistive aids, reinforcing the vision of “Saksham Bharat, Samarth Bharat.”
Divya Kala Mela: A national platform
DEPwD Secretary V Vidyavathi stated that since 2022, Divya Kala Melas have generated over Rs 20 crore in sales, supported nearly 1,000 Divyang entrepreneurs and provided employment to 310 persons with disabilities.
Celebrating talent and self-reliance
DDG Richa Shankar described the Mela as a festival of confidence, creativity and capability, highlighting Divyang artists and entrepreneurs. The ongoing Mela features handicrafts, textiles and cultural performances, promoting “Vocal for Local” and inclusive development.
