Governments must recognize communists’ role in people’s struggles

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy reminded Kadapa District TDP President that communists have always stood at the forefront of people’s struggles and should not be ridiculed or spoken of lightly, emphasizing their historic role in shaping social justice and welfare policies.

Communists paved the way for people’s movements

Addressing a press conference at his office on Tuesday, Ravi Shankar Reddy said that major political parties such as the Congress, BJP, TDP, and YSRCP were compelled to work for the people due to the continuous struggles led by communists. He noted that significant reforms like the Employment Guarantee Scheme and the Right to Information Act were the outcomes of long-standing people’s movements championed by communist leaders.

Call for proper water management

He expressed concern that despite heavy rainfall and filled reservoirs across the state, water was not reaching agricultural fields. The government, he said, failed to complete main and sub-canals, leading to wastage of valuable water resources. He urged the authorities to expedite canal works to ensure irrigation support for farmers.

Opposition to privatization of medical colleges

Ravi Shankar Reddy strongly opposed the government’s move to privatize medical colleges, calling it a “plundering of public property.” He demanded the government withdraw its plans to hand over educational institutions to private entities, pointing out that while it waives thousands of crores to industrialists like T Subbarami Reddy, it neglects vital public welfare projects.

Demand for employment and industrial growth

He further appealed for the establishment of employment-generating industries across Andhra Pradesh and for the completion of the long-pending steel plant in Kadapa district to boost local livelihoods.

Tribute to Comrade Lingamurthy

The Rayalaseema Communist Party leaders announced that the first death anniversary of Comrade Lingamurthy will be observed at the Press Club on the 8th of this month. Ravi Shankar Reddy urged people of all political affiliations who were close to Lingamurthy to attend the event and continue his mission for social justice.

RTU State Secretary Siddiramaiah, RCP City Executive Committee Members Madagalam Prasad, Vijay Kumar, Munireddy, and others participated in the press meet.
