Patna: Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led over 6,000 MY Bharat Youth Volunteers in a vibrant Jai Bhim Padyatra in Patna on Sunday, celebrating Dr. B R Ambedkar’s legacy and urging youth to drive India’s progress toward a developed nation.

Padyatra highlights

The Jai Bhim Padyatra, flagged off by Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, saw thousands march through Patna to honour Dr. B R Ambedkar. Nationwide, similar padyatras took place in every state capital and 5,000 locations, with MY Bharat volunteers cleaning Ambedkar statues and paying tribute. In Mumbai, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs Raksha Nikhil Khadse joined the march, amplifying the call for unity. Cultural performances, including songs dedicated to Ambedkar, and the distribution of water and refreshments added vibrancy and care to the event.

Minister’s call to youth

Addressing the crowd, Dr. Mandaviya hailed India’s youth as the nation’s greatest asset, urging them to embrace Ambedkar’s ideals of equality and justice. He highlighted Ambedkar’s pioneering role in securing women’s rights in 1947, a time when such equality was rare globally. Mandaviya called for a pledge to follow the vision of Ambedkar and other national icons, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Panch Pran for a self-reliant, inclusive Viksit Bharat.

Constitutional tribute and civic duty

A collective reading of the Constitution’s Preamble by young achievers and MY Bharat volunteers underscored commitment to democratic values. Volunteers chanted slogans promoting social harmony and progress, while also cleaning the padyatra route, reflecting civic responsibility. At the event’s culmination near Patna High Court, Mandaviya and leaders participated in a cleanliness drive around Ambedkar’s statue, garlanding his photo in a solemn tribute.

Distinguished attendees

The Patna padyatra saw participation from prominent figures, including Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Patna MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, State Ministers Nitin Nabin and Surendra Mehata, MP Shambhavi Choudhary, MLA Shreyasi Singh, and MLC Sanjay Mayukh. Their presence reinforced the event’s significance as a collective call for national unity and progress.

Nationwide resonance

The padyatras across 5,000 locations reflected a unified effort to renew Ambedkar’s vision of an inclusive India. Volunteers’ actions—cleaning statues, chanting slogans, and organizing cultural tributes—emphasized youth-led development and constitutional values, setting the tone for a stronger, more equitable nation.
