Hyderabad: In a major move to support students in government hostels, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a 40% increase in diet and cosmetic allowances, a first in 16 years. This initiative aims to improve nutrition and living conditions for nearly 7.65 lakh students, setting a new standard in the state’s commitment to education.
Unprecedented 40% hike for student welfare
The increase, which addresses longstanding concerns, represents a significant step toward meeting students’ basic needs in hostels, which had not seen a hike in allowances for over a decade and a half.
Improved nutrition and living conditions
The revised budget will ensure that students have access to nutritious meals and better facilities, fostering a healthier environment for learning and personal growth.
A lifeline for Telangana’s students
Over 7.65 lakh students will benefit directly from the increased allowances, providing a critical support mechanism for students from low-income backgrounds who rely on government hostels for education and accommodation.
Commitment to educational transformation
This increase is part of a larger vision by CM Revanth Reddy to revitalize education in Telangana. By targeting issues of infrastructure, diet, and student welfare, the state government aims to build a stronger foundation for future generations.
Leaders including Minister for Tribal Development and Women and Child Welfare, Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi, and MLAs Chikudu Vamsikrishna and Sanjay Kumar have extended their gratitude to the CM for prioritizing the welfare of students statewide.
