Women and Child Trafficking Awareness Programme Conducted in Dhanbad by INSIGHT
Editorial

Dhanbad, Jharkhand – The Indian Socio Income and Grievance Helping Trust (INSIGHT) successfully organized a Women and Child Trafficking Awareness Programme in Dhanbad from 08 February 2026 to 09 February 2026. The programme was conducted with the participation of 50 women and children, with the primary objective of spreading awareness about the growing dangers of human trafficking and educating communities on prevention, legal rights, and available support systems.
Human trafficking remains one of the most serious social issues affecting vulnerable communities across many regions of India. Women and children are particularly at risk due to lack of awareness, poverty, and limited access to information about legal protections. Recognizing this concern, INSIGHT initiated this awareness programme to educate participants and empower them with knowledge that can help prevent trafficking incidents.
During the two-day programme, participants attended an awareness session focused on the prevention of women and child trafficking. The session explained common trafficking tactics, warning signs, and the importance of community vigilance. Participants were also informed about their legal rights, available government support systems, and the importance of reporting suspicious activities to authorities.
To ensure that the participants could better understand and remember the information shared during the sessions, awareness kits and informational materials were distributed. These materials contained simple explanations about trafficking risks, helpline numbers, safety guidelines, and preventive measures that families and communities can adopt.
As part of the programme, two-day food support was also provided to all participating beneficiaries, ensuring that the participants could comfortably attend the sessions without facing basic difficulties. This small support also encouraged active participation from the community members who attended the programme.
Another important component of the initiative was community interaction and safety guidance. During this segment, participants were encouraged to ask questions and discuss real-life situations they might face. The interactive approach helped build confidence among women and children, allowing them to better understand how to protect themselves and others from potential trafficking risks.
The programme was effectively managed with the assistance of four dedicated volunteers, who helped in coordinating activities, guiding participants, distributing materials, and ensuring the smooth execution of the awareness sessions.
Through this initiative, INSIGHT reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and strengthening community awareness against human trafficking. The organization believes that awareness and education at the grassroots level are key tools in preventing exploitation and ensuring safer communities.
INSIGHT plans to continue organizing similar programmes in different areas to spread awareness and empower communities with the knowledge needed to prevent human trafficking and protect women and children from exploitation.
