Telangana’s Divitipally Electronics Cluster gets major boost with four new manufacturing units

Mahabubnagar – Telangana: In a significant push to India’s electronics and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing sector, Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, IT, and Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, laid the foundation stone for four manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Divitipally, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana. The projects are part of the government’s broader initiative to bolster India’s self-reliance in electronics and EV production.
Strategic investments in EV and battery manufacturing
The foundation stone was laid for Amara Raja’s upcoming Giga Factory-1, a pivotal development in EV battery manufacturing. Additionally, ground-breaking ceremonies were conducted for Lohum’s critical minerals refining and battery recycling plant, Scell Energy’s cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin’s LFP-CAM Giga Factory.
Speaking at the event, Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing electric mobility in India. “Electric mobility remains a priority, and we are dedicated to building the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem to promote EVs. We welcome Indian innovation and manufacturing initiatives and look forward to the success of this endeavor,” he stated.

Electronics manufacturing cluster: A game changer for Telangana
Under the Modified Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) Scheme, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) had approved the establishment of an EMC project spanning 377.65 acres in Divitipally. This initiative aims to strengthen the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India while providing a robust supply chain for EV production.
Amara Raja Giga Corridor: A landmark investment
Acting as the anchor unit, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT) is setting up a 16 GW Cell Manufacturing and 5 GW Battery Pack plant** over 262 acres. With an investment of Rs 9,500 crore over five years, the Amara Raja Giga Corridor is expected to generate 4,500 direct jobs and an equal number of indirect employment opportunities, contributing significantly to the region’s socio-economic development.
Employment and economic impact
The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster has already been fully allotted, with 307.47 acres allocated to four major companies—Amara Raja, Altmin, Lohum Materials, and Scell Energy. These companies collectively aim to invest Rs 10,574 crore, creating employment for 19,164 individuals (5,864 direct and 13,300 indirect jobs).
Industry leaders and oficials express enthusiasm
Jayadev Galla, Chairman and Managing Director of Amara Raja Energy and Mobility Ltd., highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating, “The Foundation Stone laying ceremony is a major milestone for our company. We are grateful to the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their proactive and industry-friendly approach.”
Dignitaries attend groundbreaking event
The event witnessed participation from D Sridhar Babu, Telangana’s Minister for IT, Electronics, Industries and Commerce, and Legislative Affairs; Aruna D K, Member of Parliament from Mahabubnagar; and Y Srinivas Reddy, Member of the Legislative Assembly. Senior officials from the state government and representatives from the industry were also present, marking the occasion as a crucial step towards India’s ambitious push for electronics and EV manufacturing.
The establishment of these manufacturing units is set to position Telangana as a key hub in India’s electronics and EV supply chain, furthering the nation’s goal of becoming a global manufacturing powerhouse.
