Students suffer in dilapidated hostels, Srikanth demands urgent action

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Telangana: Raising serious concerns over poor conditions in Telangana’s Gurukul schools and hostels, SC, ST, BC, and Minority Youth State President Gavvala Srikanth on Thursday demanded immediate government intervention to address infrastructure gaps, budget delays, and lack of basic supplies.

Students studying in unsafe, cramped conditions

Gavvala Srikanth criticized the state government for allowing SC, ST, BC, and Minority students to study in old, collapsing buildings, cramped rented rooms, and facilities lacking proper bathrooms and toilets. He called the situation unsafe and inhumane.

Call for new buildings, immediate completion of pending projects

He demanded that Gurukul buildings under construction for over 8–10 years be completed on a war footing. Srikanth stressed the need to build new facilities in backward areas and mandals with high SC, ST, and minority populations.

Staff appointments and proper facilities needed

Srikanth said hostel and Gurukul staff should be appointed directly through corporations or departments, not through outsourcing. He demanded separate male and female staff for boys’ and girls’ hostels.

Lack of supplies for students, parents urged to protest

Srikanth highlighted the absence of quality rice, essential items, books, plates, clothes, and blankets in hostels. He called on parents to join students in protesting delayed payments and non-supply of essentials.

Planned statewide inspection of Gurukuls

As part of his statewide visit, Srikanth inspected a tribal Gurukul and questioned how employees could function without basic facilities. He was joined by state secretaries and community leaders including Gavvala Lakshmi and others.
