By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Rajampet – Andhra Pradesh: Expressing concern over the plight of dialysis and elderly patients struggling without elevator access, Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) State Committee Member Madagalam Prasad on Thursday submitted a petition to the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the Rajampet Government Hospital, urging immediate repair of the non-functioning lift.

Patients struggle as lift remains inoperative

Madagalam Prasad said that the hospital lift has been out of order for the past two weeks, creating immense difficulties for dialysis patients, the disabled, the elderly, women, and those with mobility issues who need to reach upper floors for treatment.
He emphasized that while technology has become integral to healthcare delivery, technical negligence is causing serious inconvenience to those already in fragile health conditions.

Appeal for swift action

Calling for immediate attention, the RCP leader said that basic facilities like lifts are essential for patient care and should not remain neglected for long periods. He urged the hospital administration to expedite repair work to ensure that patients receive treatment without physical strain or risk.

Hospital administration responds

Responding to the petition, the RMO of Rajampet Government Hospital acknowledged that the lift malfunction has been a serious issue. He explained that the contractor had inspected the lift and identified a battery-related problem, for which a replacement unit is being brought from Hyderabad. He assured that the lift would be repaired and made operational within two days.

RCP members Vijay Kumar, Ramana, and Shanti Kumar accompanied Madagalam Prasad during the submission of the petition and expressed solidarity with patients affected by the issue.
