Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: The Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) has raised objections to the installation of a cell tower in Niranjan Nagar colony, citing potential health hazards from radiation and its impact on residents, especially children and the elderly.
Concerns over health risks
RCP city executive committee member Madagalam Prasad told reporters on Tuesday that radiation from cell towers could increase the risk of diseases. He warned that constructing towers in densely populated residential areas may endanger vulnerable groups like young children and senior citizens.
Questions over public interest
Prasad alleged that such installations were being pushed forward for financial gain, without considering the well-being of residents. He questioned why towers were being placed in areas where people clearly opposed them and said they should instead be built in locations where they pose no risk.
Call for public action
The RCP leader announced that direct protests would be organized if authorities fail to act. He said the party would continue to fight until the construction of the tower is stopped.
Leaders Vijay and Venkatesh, representing the Dalit Tribal Rights Struggle Association, also participated in the program and expressed solidarity with the local residents opposing the cell tower installation.
