RCP demands suspension over alleged land mutation

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Porumamilla – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy has demanded the immediate suspension of the Porumamilla Tahsildar, VRO, and RI, accusing them of engaging in illegal mutations and land sales that allegedly dispossessed poor landowners in the Rangasamudram panchayat.

Allegations of illegal land mutation

Ravi Shankar Reddy highlighted the case of Gampa Chalapathi, a resident of Narsing Palle village, who legally owns 91 cents of land in survey number 413 inherited from his grandfather and brothers. He alleged that the Tahsildar illegally mutated 68 cents of this land to a person named Sivakumar and another individual from Karnataka. Further, he accused the Tahsildar of selling the same land to Tupakula Prasad and acting as a broker to sell it again to a third party.

Legal proceedings underway

The matter is currently sub judice in the High Court (case number 2735 of 2021) and also in the District Joint Collector’s Court. Reddy stated that hearings were conducted in May and October in the Joint Collector’s Court, and the Tahsildar was fully aware of the ongoing legal processes. Despite two written petitions submitted to the Tahsildar in May detailing court cases, encroachments, and disputes, Reddy alleged that illegal activities continued unabated.

Evidence cited against officials

Ravi Shankar Reddy claimed that the victims possess a survey report of the land, conducted by the Tahsildar’s own office, which supports their claims. He accused the officials of succumbing to bribes and abusing their powers, thereby harming the livelihoods of innocent landowners.

Demand for suspension and legal action

The Rayalaseema Communist Party has formally demanded the immediate suspension of the Tahsildar, VRO, and RI and urged that strict legal action be taken against them for corruption and illegal activities.

Victims of the alleged encroachment attended the program and voiced their support for the party’s demands.
