PYS demands crackdown on illegal liquor trade in Yemmiganur
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Andhra Pradesh: The Pragathisheela Yuvajana Sangam (PYS) has urged excise officials to take strict action against the rampant and unauthorized liquor trade in Yemmiganur town, citing growing public distress and law-and-order concerns.
Liquor sales violating rules, hurting public peace
On Friday, PYS Division Convener S Muneppa submitted a memorandum to the local Excise CI, alleging that liquor shops are flouting permitted business hours and operating illegally from 5 am to midnight, functioning as unauthorized belt shops.
Overpricing and black market sales reported
Muneppa revealed that licensed shop owners are selling bottles through nearby petty shops at inflated prices. He also noted the unchecked sale of Karnataka liquor in tetra packs within the town.
Women, children facing distress near wine shops
The PYS Convener pointed out serious disturbances caused by a wine shop near the colony’s big well on Sogunur Road. Local women and children are reportedly affected by frequent brawls and public consumption of liquor.
Call for immediate action and shop relocation
Demanding swift intervention, Muneppa urged authorities to relocate problematic wine shops and act against those responsible for illegal activities linked to liquor sales. PYS leaders Raju, Madhu, Bujjanna, and Veeranjineyulu supported the appeal.
