Hyderabad: Student and youth organizations in Telangana urged the state government to reopen schools from June 1, aligning with the reopening of junior colleges and Telangana Formation Day celebrations on June 2.
Call for synchronizing school reopening with state celebrations
Gavvala Srikanth, State President of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Party and Telangana SC/ST/BC Minority Students Youth Association, emphasized that Telangana Formation Day on June 2 could be celebrated festively in schools if they reopen on June 1. He noted that junior colleges are scheduled to reopen on the same day, and degree colleges are already functioning without a break.
Open letter to government
Citing cold weather and the ongoing academic activity in higher education institutions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reportedly sent an open letter to the Congress-led government supporting the reopening of schools from June 1, to avoid unnecessary academic delays.
Academic year should prioritize instruction time
Srikanth said that in the 2025–2026 academic year, holidays should be limited to festivals or natural calamities. Regular academic activity, he said, should not be delayed and every opportunity should be used to maintain instructional continuity.
Resolution passed in central meeting
A resolution supporting the June 1 reopening was passed at a meeting held at the Telangana SC/S/TBC Minority Students Youth Association’s central office in Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad, chaired by State Secretary Teegala Shekhar.
The meeting was attended by several representatives, including State Chief Secretary Kota Siva Shankar, and State Secretaries Sambari Prashanth Kumar, Suryavanmshi, Vidyasagar, Gavvala Ajay, Uradi Pawan Kumar, M Chandraiah, M Lingam, S Bhimrao, N Ajay, R Anil, J Pawan and others.
