By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Andhra Pradesh: Amid rumours circulating on social media about a shortage of cooking gas, Dr. Nidhi Meena, Joint Collector of Kadapa district, on Monday clarified that there is no shortage of LPG supply and urged the public not to panic. Addressing a press conference at the PGRS Hall in the Collectorate, she assured that adequate stocks are available and the administration has taken all necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Rumours baseless, no need for panic for LPG
Dr. Nidhi Meena stated that the rumours being spread on certain social media platforms regarding gas shortage are completely false and misleading. She urged consumers not to believe such misinformation and to rely only on official communication from the district administration.
Special officers appointed for monitoring
To ensure smooth supply and monitoring, the administration has appointed special officers for all 58 gas agencies in the district, designated divisional officers as supervisory authorities and established control rooms at district and divisional levels.
These measures aim to ensure that LPG supply remains uninterrupted and efficiently managed.
Adequate LPG stocks assured
The Joint Collector categorically stated that:
There will be no shortage of LPG for domestic use
Supplies from gas companies will continue as usual
Essential services, including welfare hostels, will not face disruption
She assured that the administration is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any inconvenience to consumers.
Guidelines for consumers
Consumers have been advised to:
Avoid panic booking of gas cylinders
Book LPG only after the stipulated waiting period:
25 days for urban areas
45 days for rural areas
Refrain from hoarding cylinders beyond immediate needs
She noted that online systems do not allow repeated bookings within short intervals, and unnecessary bookings could create artificial pressure.
Warning against misuse of domestic cylinders
The Joint Collector issued a strict warning that:
Using domestic LPG cylinders (14.2 kg) for commercial purposes is illegal
Violators will face action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955
Strict enforcement measures will be taken against those diverting domestic gas for commercial use.
