Bommaganapalle – Andhra Pradesh: Chinna Gangamma, a poor Dalit woman from Bommaganapalle in Brahmasamudram mandal, is fighting for her life after a lorry accident left her with a broken spine. With no means to afford treatment, her husband, Chinna Kollappa, is pleading with the RDT organization, the local MLA, and police officials to extend immediate support and ensure justice.
Accident during protest journey
On 15 September 2025, about 70 Dalits from Bommaganapalle were traveling in a Bolero vehicle to join a protest at the District Collectorate, demanding the renewal of the FCRA of the RDT organization. At Borampalli, their vehicle was hit by an oncoming lorry, injuring several passengers. Among them, Gangamma suffered severe damage to her spine, leaving her bedridden.
Seeking justice and support
The accident was reported to the Kalyan Durgam Rural Police Station. Kollappa said he has already approached the District Superintendent of Police with a humble request to ensure justice against those responsible for the accident. He expressed hope that the police would stand by the poor and take necessary steps in this regard.
Family in dire straits
Gangamma’s husband and her two sons, both daily wage workers, are struggling to provide even basic care. With no savings, the family has been left helpless as Gangamma remains confined to bed, awaiting proper medical treatment.
Appeal to leaders and organizations
Kollappa has appealed to the RDT organization and the local MLA to come forward with urgent assistance. “My wife is between life and death. We don’t have a single rupee to get her treated. Please help us,” he pleaded.
A call for compassion
Gangamma’s plight highlights the urgent need for timely intervention from civil society, local leaders, and authorities. Community members say collective support at this critical hour could save her life and bring hope to her struggling family.
