CPI (ML) New Democracy demands urgent action on Yemmiganur workers’ strike

Andhra Pradesh: CPI (ML) New Democracy and IFTU leaders called on Yemmiganur municipal authorities to immediately resolve the long-standing grievances of striking municipal workers, as public services remain disrupted for over a month.

34-day strike disrupts essential civic services

Municipal workers in Yemmiganur town have been on strike for the past 34 days, demanding resolution of various workplace issues. Due to their absence from duties, the town is facing interruptions in essential services like drinking water supply and street lighting.

Public facing water shortages and darkness

District leader M Sathyana said that repairs to drinking water pipelines and streetlights have been halted in many areas, causing significant inconvenience to residents. He emphasized that the continued neglect is affecting the day-to-day lives of people in the town.

Authorities accused of inaction

CPI (ML) New Democracy accused municipal authorities of failing to address the fair demands of the workers, despite the ongoing strike. The leaders urged officials to take swift action to restore services and resolve all pending issues of the agitating employees.

Workers supported by trade unions

Leaders from the Indian Federation of Trade Unions (IFTU), including S Balaraju, Babu, Muneppa, Jayaram, Sanjanna, Narasimhulu, and Srinivasa Rao, participated in the demonstration and pledged their full support to the municipal workers’ struggle.
