By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu:Bureau Chief

Kurnool – Andhra Pradesh: At the Sunayana Auditorium of the District Collector’s Office in Kurnool, BSN State President Ramatirtham Amaresh, along with his team, presented a report to Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, chairman of the one-man commission appointed by the Andhra Pradesh government, on Thursday. The report focused on the socio-economic disparities among Scheduled Castes (SC) and sought a resolution to long-pending demands.

Decades-long struggle for classification of madiga community

Speaking on the occasion, Amaresh emphasized that SC classification remains both a legal and social issue. He highlighted the three-decade-long struggle of the Madiga community, advocating for their classification based on socio-economic, educational, and employment disparities. “This classification is essential to ensure targeted benefits for marginalized sections within the SC category,” he stated.

Concerns over false reports in gram panchayats

Amaresh raised concerns about inaccuracies in reports submitted at the gram panchayat level, where Madiga and Mala communities are often falsely identified as Christians. He also pointed out discrepancies in records, citing the instance of non-existent Madasi, Madari, Kuruvas being recorded in Kurnool district. He called for the abolition of such practices to maintain accurate representation and equitable resource allocation.

Call for implementation of creamy layer principle

The BSN leader invoked Babasaheb Ambedkar’s vision of equitable reservation benefits, urging the government to apply the creamy layer concept within the SC category. He argued that such a measure would ensure that the benefits of constitutional reservations are shared among all deserving individuals from original communities.

The program witnessed the participation of several BSN leaders, including District Secretary Prasanna Kumar and Kurnool Town Secretary Surendra, alongside a large number of supporters.

This comprehensive report by BSN aims to address deep-rooted inequalities and drive necessary reforms in the classification and representation of Scheduled Castes in Andhra Pradesh.
