Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Emphasizing the need for political representation and population-based reservations, BC United National Front State President DM Obulesu Yadav on Thursday announced that BC Political Awareness Rallies will be held in Kadapa to demand justice and empowerment for the Backward Classes (BCs).
Rallies on October 8 to demand political reservations
Addressing a press conference at the local BC Bhavan, Obulesu Yadav said that the BC Political Awareness Rallies will be organized on October 8 at the Press Club in Kadapa city. The aim, he said, is to sensitize the BC community about their political rights and demand reservations proportionate to their population across the country.
He urged all BCs in the state to actively participate and raise their collective voice for justice and representation.
Decades of social and political neglect
Obulesu Yadav observed that despite constituting nearly half of the population, BCs continue to remain politically, socially, and economically backward. He alleged that political conspiracies have prevented the community from obtaining fair representation and that successive governments have failed to ensure population-based political reservations. “The time has come for BCs to awaken and claim their rightful share in political power,” he asserted.
Demand for BC caste census
He further demanded that the caste census of BCs be conducted immediately so that their actual population and socio-economic conditions can be recognized officially. He said that such data is crucial for ensuring equitable distribution of opportunities and welfare schemes.
The meeting was attended by Rajaka Sangham Kadapa District President Thippireddy Palli Nageswara Rao, BC United National Front leaders Mallesh and SV Ramana, and Lok Satta leader Devara Sri Krishna, among others, who extended their support to the movement.
