Andhra CM fulfils poll promise with ‘Talliki Vandanam’ launch

Andhra Pradesh: On completing one year in office, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched the ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, benefiting over 42 lakh mothers of 67.27 lakh school-going children across the state with direct financial support.
Aid announced under Super Six promises
As part of the Super Six promises of the ruling coalition, the Andhra Pradesh government issued GO No. 27, formally launching the scheme. School Education Secretary Kona Shashidhar announced the release of funds for the initiative, aimed at supporting mothers of school-going children.
Financial assistance to over 42 lakh mothers
Under the scheme, Rs 15,000 will be sanctioned per child annually. Of this, Rs 13,000 will be directly deposited into the bank accounts of 42,69,459 mothers, while the remaining Rs 2,000 will be credited to the respective district collectors’ accounts to fund school maintenance, sanitation, and drinking water.
*Total beneficiaries: Over 67 lakh children
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the scale of the scheme, noting the distribution across households:
18,55,760 mothers with one child
14,55,322 mothers with two children
2,10,684 mothers with three children
20,053 mothers with four children
In total, 67,27,164 students will benefit from the scheme in this academic year.
Focus on education and infrastructure
Apart from direct monetary support to mothers, the scheme ensures improvement in school infrastructure by allocating Rs 2,000 per child to district collectors for repair works, sanitation, and clean drinking water in government schools.
