AIKMS seeks drought declaration, compensation for rain-hit farmers
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Peddakadubur – Andhra Pradesh: The All India Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (AIKMS) has urged the state government to declare Peddakaubur mandal as a drought-affected area and provide crop loss compensation to farmers who suffered severe damage due to continuous heavy rains over the past few months.
Petition submitted to Tehsildar
AIKMS Mandal Secretary Hanumanthu submitted a petition to Tehsildar Geetha Priyadarshini on Monday, appealing for immediate government intervention. He said that incessant rains had submerged farmlands, causing extensive damage to major crops such as cotton, groundnut, castor, onion, millet, sunflower, chilli, and maize.
Severe losses and rising debt
Hanumanthu explained that farmers had invested between Rs 50,000 and Rs 80,000 per acre, but the entire yield was destroyed. With no remunerative price for the remaining produce, many farmers have fallen into debt. He said the situation has pushed small and marginal farmers into financial distress.
Demand for compensation and drought relief
The AIKMS demanded that the government provide compensation of Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 per acre for the losses and ensure that pending drought relief funds from earlier declarations are credited to farmers’ accounts immediately.
AIKMS District General Secretary M Satyanna, and mandal leaders Ramanjaneyulu, Chinna Eeranna, Thimmaiah, and Chinna Narasanna participated in the program.
