Did stress and harassment push SI Murthy to tragic end?

Rajahmundry – Andhra Pradesh: The haunting final conversation of SI Murthy, moments before his tragic death, has left many shaken. His words, filled with despair, raise troubling questions about the mental stress and official harassment he endured. While authorities claim his death was an accidental gun misfire, growing voices insist that Murthy’s suicide with his service revolver was a desperate response to unbearable pressure.
A heartbreaking farewell
Before taking the extreme step, Murthy confided in a close friend, sharing his emotional turmoil and professional struggles. The audio of their conversation is now resonating deeply, especially among those who understand the burdens faced by lower-rank police officers.
A call for justice
Meda Srinivas, the founding president of the Rashtriya Praja Congress, has demanded a high-level inquiry into Murthy’s death, rejecting the official version that it was an accidental gun misfire. He urged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to treat the case with urgency and sensitivity, ensuring Murthy’s wife is provided employment and his children receive government support for their future.

Harassment in the police force?
Murthy’s death has reignited debates about the mistreatment of lower-level police officers. Are honest officers being subjected to punishment transfers, undue pressure, and harassment? Are their families bearing the brunt of systemic injustices? The answers remain elusive, but Murthy’s death has amplified these concerns.
While many lower-rank officers struggle under pressure, some within the force—shielded by political influence—allegedly engage in corruption and lead lavish lifestyles. This stark contrast between privileged officers and those serving with integrity has fueled discontent among honest officials.
Will the truth ever come out?
Meda Srinivas questioned whether the real reasons behind SI Murthy’s tragic end would ever be known. “Will his case be thoroughly investigated, or will it fade into silence, like so many before it? The coming days will determine whether justice is served or forgotten,” he said.
