Indian Constitution awareness conference highlights unity and secular values

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: The Indian Constitution Awareness Conference, organized by the Movement for Peace and Justice (MPJ), was held on Sunday at the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind office in the town. State leaders emphasized the importance of understanding the Constitution and its role in ensuring justice, equality, and unity.

Decoding the preamble: A call for awareness

KM Abdu Subhan, State President of the Welfare Party and chief guest of the event, delivered a detailed explanation of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Highlighting its essence, he said, “We, the people of India, adopted this Constitution to build a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic that ensures social, economic justice, freedom, equality, and unity among all citizens.”

He urged citizens to understand and uphold these values, emphasizing that the Constitution guarantees dignity, fraternity, and rights for every individual.

India runs on the Constitution, not religion

MPJ State General Secretary Sheikh Salim underscored India’s secular foundation, stating, “India is not governed by any religion but by the Constitution. It is a nation where all citizens enjoy equal rights irrespective of their faith.” He stressed that religious beliefs are a personal matter, while constitutional principles bind the nation together.

A platform for community leaders

The event brought together MPJ District President Zakir Hussain, Town President Hussain Basha, Vice President Nazir, Media Secretary Aslam, Treasurer Ismail, and other members. They collectively highlighted the need for greater public awareness of the Constitution to ensure justice, equality, and harmony in society.

Promoting unity through awareness

The conference aimed to inspire citizens to embrace the principles of the Constitution and actively promote fraternity and national unity. Leaders emphasized that understanding these values is essential for building a just and inclusive society.
