Morocco: At GITEX Africa 2025, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, India reaffirmed its global leadership in digital innovation and skilling. Minister Jayant Chaudhary highlighted India’s scalable Digital Public Infrastructure and sought deeper collaboration with African nations to advance inclusive and equitable growth.
India participates in Africa’s largest tech and startup event
GITEX Africa, the continent’s premier tech and startup showcase, brought together policy leaders, changemakers, and innovators for three days of high-level discussions on collaboration and digital transformation. India was prominently represented by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education.
India’s DPI model highlighted as global best practice
In various bilateral meetings and panel discussions, Jayant Chaudhary emphasized how India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) — including Aadhaar, UPI, ONDC, and DigiLocker — has transformed access to identity, payments, commerce, and public services.
He cited the success of Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), which has onboarded over one crore users in just 18 months, as a powerful example of tech-driven skilling for inclusive growth.
Key themes: AI, collaboration, and inclusive innovation
Highlighting India’s role as a global AI talent hub, Chaudhary referenced the 33.39% year-on-year growth in AI hiring from the Stanford AI Index 2025, positioning India as a key resource pool for emerging tech talent.
He proposed collaborative frameworks between India and Africa to share knowledge, infrastructure, and expertise in AI, cybersecurity, skilling, and digital governance, underscoring that such partnerships can accelerate digitalization in developing countries.
Strategic bilateral engagements with African Ministers
On the sidelines of the summit, Chaudhary held productive talks with key Moroccan ministers:
-Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni (Digital Transition and Administrative Reform)
Prof. Azzedine EL Midaoui (Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation)
Younes Sekkouri (Economic Inclusion and Employment)
Mohammed Saad Berrada (National Education, Preschool and Sports)
These meetings focused on aligning priorities in research, digital infrastructure, skilling, and AI integration into governance and education systems.
India’s digital vision gains global recognition
India’s participation at GITEX Africa 2025 underscored its emergence as a thought leader in technology-for-public-good. Initiatives such as Digital India, Skill India, SIDH, and DIKSHA continue to serve as global benchmarks for scalable, citizen-centric innovation.
As developing countries seek adaptable digital models, India’s DPI approach is increasingly recognized for its potential to build resilient, inclusive, and future-ready societies worldwide.
