Mega DSC notification this month: Nara Lokesh outlines key education reforms

Amaravati – Andhra Pradesh: State Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh announced that the Mega DSC notification will be released within this month. Speaking at a meeting with coalition legislators and legislative council members at his Undavalli residence, he detailed upcoming education sector reforms, emphasizing that their strict implementation would yield results from next year.

Major reforms in school education

Minister Lokesh outlined a route map for reforms, including:

Cluster re-mapping to optimize school locations.
Repeal of GO 117 and the formulation of alternative policies.
Changes to the Teachers’ Transfer Act and a transparent teacher promotion system.
Strengthening infrastructure in schools to improve learning conditions.

He stressed that education reforms are being driven beyond politics, ensuring that uniforms, textbooks, and academic calendars remain neutral and free from party influence. Annual celebrations will also be introduced in schools upon legislators’ requests.

Legislators’ inputs on education reforms

Several legislators and former ministers put forth key concerns and suggestions:

Konatha Ramakrishna called for alternative arrangements in schools after the repeal of GO 117.
Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy highlighted transportation challenges in suburban villages.

Lokam Madhavi (Jana Sena) proposed setting the minimum number of students for model primary schools at 45.

Venkateswara Rao (Kovvur MLA) suggested increasing Gurukul schools due to their strong academic performance.

Kondababu (Kakinada MLA) requested EAMCET and IIT coaching for government school students.

Minister Lokesh responded that input materials are already being provided for Inter students, and coaching programs will be considered.

Parthasarathy (Adoni MLA) urged coordination between collectors and sub-collectors on GO 117 implementation.

Infrastructure, branding, and school enhancements

Bojjala Sudheer Reddy (Srikalahasti MLA) recommended branding to highlight facilities in government schools.

Ganababu (Visakhapatnam MLA) called for indoor stadiums in large high schools under the municipal corporation.

Yarlagadda Venkat Rao (Gannavaram MLA) suggested using CGF funds from DCCB for school infrastructure and adopting an online system for NRIs to contribute.

Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy (Former Minister) stressed special attention to tribal schools.

Arimilli Radhakrishna (Tanuku MLA) urged that school uniforms be provided in adequate quantity (at least 3 pairs).

GV Anjaneyulu (Vinukonda MLA) highlighted the decline in government school reputation during the YSRCP regime and proposed organizing anniversaries and cultural programs.

Kalva Srinivasulu (Former Minister) suggested a comprehensive plan for additional classroom construction.

Kuna Ravikumar (Aamudala Walasa MLA) recommended parental involvement in reform implementation.

Minister Lokesh assured that these suggestions will be reviewed to strengthen the state’s education system.
