RPC urges boycott of corporate media, slams distortion of truth

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Rajahmundry: At a weekly meeting of the Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) on Sunday, Founding President Meda Srinivas issued a strong call to boycott corporate media, accusing it of eroding journalistic values and manipulating public perception through sensationalism, caste-based narratives, and diversion from real issues in Andhra Pradesh.

Corporate media accused of polluting Fourth Estate

Meda Srinivas alleged that Andhra Pradesh’s corporate media has transformed into an expensive business center, prioritizing family-centric narratives over public interest. He said the media is deliberately creating divisions and distractions by focusing excessively on the affairs of the NTR, Chandrababu, and YSR families, sidelining Andhra’s rich historical and cultural legacy.

Truth replaced with sensationalism

He criticized corporate channels for glorifying celebrities and criminals while ignoring pressing issues like lack of infrastructure, health care, education, and public safety. He asserted that social workers and ordinary citizens are marginalized in favor of “celebrity” narratives that promote immorality and corruption.

Media silent on state’s broken promises

Srinivas pointed out that despite Andhra Pradesh being rich in natural resources, it continues to suffer from poverty due to policy failures and exploitation by corporate and political interests. He condemned both the Modi government and state rulers for failing to fulfill promises related to special status and division—issues ignored by corporate media.

Journalism undermined by propaganda

The RPC leader alleged that today’s corporate media in Andhra Pradesh behaves like agents of social unrest—inciting casteism and religious divides while ignoring real social crimes such as rape, trafficking, environmental degradation, and mafia activity. He likened their role to historical oppressors, calling it more dangerous than business-political collusion.

Youth misled and villages misinformed

Srinivas warned that young people are being led astray by constant coverage of irrelevant family feuds and elite lifestyles. He cited the rampant availability of drugs and the lack of integrity in public offices, none of which, he claims, are highlighted by corporate media.

Call to reclaim journalism’s purpose

“Corporate media is tarnishing the very essence of journalism. They ignore citizens’ rights and amplify meaningless rank-and-file debates, pushing genuine social concerns out of public discourse,” Srinivas said, urging people to reject these platforms and support ethical journalism.

RPC and JDRF meetings draw large participation

The RPC meeting, chaired by senior secular Pendyala Kamaraju, included key party members such as DV Ramanamurthy, Dudde Trinad, MD Hussain, and several others.

A separate JDRF meeting held in Rajahmundry earlier drew journalists from both Godavari districts. Penke Srinivas announced that further activities would be announced soon.
