Save RDT, stand for the poor: JAC appeals to Governor Nazeer

Anantapur – Andhra Pradesh: During Governor S Abdul Nazeer’s visit to the district, SC/ST JAC State President Saake Hari urged him to intervene in safeguarding the Rural Development Trust (RDT) and ensure continued foreign funding for its welfare services across Andhra Pradesh.
Plea to protect RDT from relocation
Saake Hari met the Governor at the R&B guest house and requested his support to prevent RDT’s potential relocation to Anantapur district, expressing concern over the impact such a move would have on the thousands who rely on the trust’s welfare activities.
FCRA blockade affecting the poor
He pointed out that foreign funding for RDT has been blocked due to the Centre’s refusal to renew its FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) registration. This decision, he said, has severely impacted the poor in 21 districts of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
56 years of selfless service
Highlighting RDT’s decades-long contribution, Hari emphasized that the trust has been a lifeline in sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, disability services, and sports, serving people without discrimination based on caste or religion. “Without RDT, the lives of the poor would be plunged into darkness,” he said.
Grassroots protests against false propaganda
The people of Anantapur and surrounding districts have already launched mass protests and held an eight-day relay hunger strike under the All-Party Committee (JAC), rejecting what they call false propaganda aimed at undermining RDT.
Governor promises to raise issue at Centre
Saake Hari said that Governor Nazeer responded positively to the concerns and assured that he would bring the matter to the attention of the Central Government, raising hopes for the restoration of RDT’s crucial services to the underprivileged.
