By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu:Bureau Chief

Kalyandurg – Andhra Pradesh: On Monday, JAC State President of SC and ST Unions, Saake Hari, led a protest against Kalyandurg Municipal Commissioner Vamsikrishna, accusing him of unfairly dismissing Dalit municipal workers who had served for a decade. The protestors staged a dharna on the town’s main road, demanding justice and raising slogans against the commissioner’s actions.

Dalit workers unjustly fired after 10 years

Addressing the crowd in the protest, Saake Hari pointed out that Dalit municipal workers were dismissed from their jobs, despite having worked for over ten years. He emphasized the unfairness of removing workers who had diligently served the municipality, leaving them without a means to support their families.

Commissioner’s reluctance criticized

Hari criticized the commissioner’s reluctance to reinstate the workers despite promises to do so following instructions from the local MLA. He accused the municipal authorities of ignoring repeated requests from the JAC and neglecting the well-being of the workers.

Allegations of discrimination and corruption

Saake Hari warned that the JAC would not tolerate the ongoing discrimination against Dalit and tribal workers. He further alleged that the commissioner’s refusal to address the workers’ grievances pointed to deeper corruption within the office. The protestors also expressed frustration with the political leaders of the coalition, accusing them of making empty promises to the Dalit community.

Demand for immediate reinstatement

The JAC leaders demanded the immediate reinstatement of the dismissed workers, warning of a large scale movement if their demands were not met. Hari made it clear that the coalition government and municipal officials would be held accountable if the injustices were not corrected.

JAC leaders rally support

The protest was supported by several JAC leaders, including Chelimappa, Taluka President, and District leaders Dona Thimmappa, Dabar Ramesh, Bhaskar Naik, Sirpi Gangappa, Gopal, Ramachandra, Narasimhullu, Sriramulu, Lakshmidevi, Vedavathi, Balu, Siva and others.
