BJP ignoring State’s rights: CPM’s K Subbaravamma

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu:Bureau Chief

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Addressing the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Meeting of the CPM party at the local press club, CPM State Executive Committee Member K Subbaravamma launched a scathing attack on the central BJP government, accusing it of promoting anti-farmer, anti-labor, and anti-people policies.

She criticized the BJP for failing to deliver on pre-election promises and accused it of handing over crucial sectors like agriculture, industries, electricity, transport, banks, and LIC to corporate giants like Adani and Ambani. She said, “While corporates thrive, over 1.5 lakh poor farmers, tenant farmers, and agricultural workers have tragically lost their lives.”

Central government’s inaction betrays State

Subbaravamma lambasted the BJP for neglecting Andhra Pradesh’s development needs and betraying the state. She listed the unfulfilled promises, including:

Special status for Andhra Pradesh
Compensation and resettlement for Polavaram project evacuees
Backward region package for Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra
Establishment of the Kadapa steel factory
Protection of Visakhapatnam steel plant

She accused the government of “turning the capital’s construction into a farce and failing to ensure equitable distribution of Krishna water.”

CPM’s stand against ‘One Nation, One Election’

Subbaravamma voiced strong opposition to the BJP’s push for Jamili elections, also known as ‘One Nation, One Election.’ She argued that this move is an attack on democratic federalism and undermines the political autonomy of states.

The CPM leader urged people to recognize the dangers of this initiative, describing it as “an attempt to centralize power and further suppress regional voices.”

Demand for action and call to fight

Highlighting key issues, Subbaravamma demanded the following from the government:

1. Immediate implementation of minimum wages.
2. Control over soaring prices of essential commodities.
3. Protection of Dalit, tribal, and minority welfare budgets.
4. Rejection of the Electricity Act Amendment Bills.

She also condemned the BJP for increasing GST on essential items while giving massive subsidies to corporate companies.

Violation of constitution and communal politics

Subbaravamma accused the BJP government of undermining constitutional principles, “taking away the rights of states, fostering communalism, and suppressing dissent.” She alleged that the central government harasses those who raise questions by fabricating cases against them.

“It is time for people to unite and resist these destructive policies,” she declared, calling on citizens to join the fight for farmers, laborers, and democratic values.
