
Baramati- Pune :- Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died on Wednesday morning when his chartered plane crashed while attempting to land near Baramati Airport in Pune district.

The Learjet 45XR aircraft was flying from Mumbai to Baramati for local election campaigning when it veered off the runway and burst into flames on landing. Pawar and all four others on board were killed. Pawar, a senior leader and key figure in Maharashtra politics, was 66 years old and travelling to attend public meetings ahead of district council elections.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau have begun investigating the cause of the crash. In response to the tragedy, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced three days of state mourning. Leaders from across India have expressed grief and called for a thorough investigation.
