Goa liquor smuggling busted in Proddatur, Excise seizes 174 litres

Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: The Prohibition and Excise Department cracked down on illegal liquor trafficking in Proddatur town, seizing a large quantity of non-duty paid liquor smuggled from Goa and arresting one accused.
Raids conducted on specific intelligence
Acting on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner of Excise M Jayaraju and Assistant Commissioner (Enforcement) V Chandrasekhar Reddy, and under the supervision of Excise Superintendent S Ravikumar, Excise officials conducted early morning raids on Monday in the Nagendra Nagar–Putta Street area of Proddatur based on credible information.
One arrested, two accused abscond
During the raid, officials found illegal liquor stored in a four-wheeler vehicle. While two suspects managed to flee, one person was apprehended in the presence of panchayat witnesses. The arrested individual was identified as Anumalaguthi Venkata Siva (30), a resident of Proddatur. The absconding accused were identified as Katam Veerendra and Mangapatnam Suman.
Liquor smuggled from Goa for illegal sale
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were transporting non-duty paid liquor from Goa and selling it in Proddatur at inflated prices, violating excise laws.
Details of liquor seized
Officials seized liquor bottles of various brands and quantities, all confirmed as non-duty paid liquor from Goa:
Royal Challenge Whisky (750 ml) – 21 bottles (15.75 litres)
Royal Challenge Whisky (180 ml) – 48 bottles (8.64 litres)
Dobur Man Supreme Premium Whisky (750 ml) – 86 bottles (64.50 litres)
Mansion House (2000 ml) – 28 bottles (56.00 litres)
Mansion House (750 ml) – 119 bottles (89.25 litres)
Total quantity seized: Approximately 174.14 litres.
Vehicle seized, legal action initiated
The Mahindra XUV700 vehicle (AP39 086678) used for transporting the liquor was seized. Samples were collected for chemical analysis, and legal proceedings were initiated. The arrested accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

Officials warn of continued crackdown
Excise officials reiterated that strict enforcement against illegal liquor transportation and sale will continue across the district. The public was urged to cooperate by providing information on illicit liquor activities.

Kadapa Assistant Excise Superintendent Vinod Kumar, Enforcement Inspector Neelakanteswara Reddy, Proddatur Excise Inspector Surendra Reddy, Sub-Inspectors Narayanaswamy, Kalyan, Ramakrishna, and other staff participated in the opearation. District officials commended the team for their effective enforcement action.
