Concerns voiced over farmers’ future amid Amaravati capital development

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Rajahmundry – Andhra Pradesh: Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) Founding President Meda Srinivas on Sunday alleged that large-scale land acquisition for Amaravati capital could go down in history as India’s biggest land scam, warning that key leaders and officials of the Chandrababu Naidu–led coalition government may eventually face jail for their role.

Farmers’ lives disrupted by capital project

Addressing a weekend meeting at the RPC headquarters, Meda Srinivas said nearly 33,000 acres were forcibly acquired from farmers under the CRDA, pushing once self-reliant agricultural families into uncertainty. He claimed guarantee bonds given to farmers had lost value, banks were denying loans, and families were struggling to fund education and livelihoods.

Allegations of massive irregularities

He alleged that the Amaravati project involved unprecedented land grabbing, surpassing past national-level scams, and accused governments of mortgaging Andhra Pradesh’s future through heavy borrowing without visible development.

Call for accountability and political change

Meda Srinivas asserted that only a major political change, inspired by the Jai Andhra movement, could restore justice, warning that those responsible for land acquisition irregularities would be held accountable in the future.
