By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Yemmiganur – Andhra Pradesh: CPI (ML) New Democracy district leaders have called for the immediate implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Yemmiganur mandal to ensure every household receives access to drinking water taps. The demand was raised during a dharna staged in front of the Rural Water Section office on Monday, followed by the submission of a petition to the Assistant Engineer.
Authorities failing to implement Jal Jeevan Mission
CPI (ML) District leader M Satyanna criticized the Panchayat Raj authorities for failing to implement the central government’s Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Yemmiganur mandal. He said that despite the objective of providing drinking water taps to every village household, officials have neglected its execution, leaving residents struggling with severe water shortages.
Urgent need before summer intensifies water scarcity
With summer approaching, water scarcity is expected to worsen, intensifying the hardships faced by residents. Satyanna urged authorities to address the crisis without delay, emphasizing that the administration must take proactive measures instead of waiting for repeated complaints from villagers. He condemned officials for their continued inaction despite widespread distress over drinking water shortages.
Protesters call for inspections and immediate solutions
The leaders demanded that Panchayat Raj officials conduct on-ground inspections in affected villages and resolve the crisis at the earliest. They insisted that authorities must take responsibility for ensuring that every household in Emmiganur mandal has access to safe drinking water under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The dharna saw participation from several district leaders, including IFTU representatives S Balaraju and Babu, and AIKMS leaders Pedda Reddy, Suresh, Nagaraju, Yellappa, Mallesappa, Jayaraju, and Muneppa, among others. The protestors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing their agitation until the issue is addressed.
