By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Kadapa District Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath on Wednesday directed the police machinery to strengthen smart policing practices, expedite investigations, and enhance public safety measures to position Kadapa as a leading district in the state.
Focus on smart policing and public service
Addressing a monthly crime review meeting at the Pennar Police Conference Hall, the SP said that although Kadapa police have already earned recognition at the state level, greater emphasis on smart policing and efficient service delivery is required to set new benchmarks.
Speedy disposal of pending cases
The SP instructed officers to complete investigations of pending cases without delay. He reviewed long-pending cases and offered specific suggestions, directing officers to improve coordination and regularly communicate instructions from higher authorities to field staff.

Accident prevention and traffic regulation
Highlighting road safety concerns, the SP ordered the identification of accident-prone “black spots” and stressed coordination with the R and B and other departments to prevent mishaps. He noted that overspeeding and poor speed control at curves were major causes of accidents. Traffic CI Suresh Reddy was instructed to take special measures to regulate traffic in Kadapa city.
Enhanced surveillance and visible policing
The SP emphasised visible policing through intensified patrolling and regular inspections at dhabas, hotels, lodges, bus stands and railway stations. He directed close surveillance on old offenders, suspects and rowdy sheeters, with special focus on faction-affected villages.
Village outreach and crime prevention
Officers were instructed to regularly conduct the ‘Palle Nidra’ (village night stay) programme to strengthen police-public relations and maintain peace in rural areas. Special attention was ordered for crime prevention near educational institutions to curb eve-teasing.
Priority to missing persons and property crimes
Missing persons cases were to be treated as top priority, with efforts made to trace them swiftly and reunite them with their families. The SP also directed officers to improve recovery rates in theft and property-related crimes by tracing and recovering stolen assets from previous cases.
Strengthening women’s safety
To prevent crimes against women, the SP ordered increased surveillance by Shakti teams and proactive policing measures across the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP (Admin) K Prakash Babu, Rajampet ASP Manoj Ramanath Hegde, Special Branch DSP N Sudhakar, Kadapa DSP A Venkateswarlu, Jammalamadugu DSP K Venkateswara Rao, Proddatur ASP Vibhu Krishna, Pulivendula DSP B Murali Naik, Mydukur DSP G Rajendra Prasad, along with CIs and SIs from across the district.
